Our Mission
The Seahorse Sanctuary & Equine Therapy Center is the brainchild of Elisabeth Ashe, a Canadian who has called Mexico home several months a year for the last 29 years.
Living part time on a rescue farm in Canada which offers equine therapy, Elisabeth decided that this would be a wonderful thing to bring to the area where the need is great and no other options of this kind in the state of Guerrero.
El Seahorse Sanctuary & Equine Therapy Center es una creación de Elisabeth Ashe, canadiense que ha adoptado a México como su hogar varios meses al año durante los últimos 29 años.
Al vivir por temporadas en una granja donde se rescataban animales en Canadá y se ofrecían terapias con caballos, Elisabeth tuvo la grandiosa idea que sería maravilloso llevar este programa las áreas más vulnerables en el Estado de Guerrero, México donde no hay opciones de este tipo.
They produced a video outlining their goals and dreams in the hopes that someone would donate some land. The gamble paid off when a local family and business owners the Aguilars of Pollo Coa Restaurant in Coacoyul, generously offered 4 adjacent lots for their use until 2025, with an option to buy at the end of the term. Construction of the facility began in January of 2023 by the end of April of that year, The SeaHorse Sanctuary & Equine Therapy Center was accepting clients from the surrounding area. Produjo un vídeo donde describe sus metas y sueños, todo con la esperanza de que alguien lo viera y le interesara el proyecto y ayudara donando o prestando un terreno para llevar a cabo tan noble misión. La difusión del video fue todo un éxito, los propietarios del negocio Aguilars del Restaurante Pollo Coa en Coacoyul, ofrecieron generosamente 4 lotes adyacentes en comodato con opción a compra para el uso de este proyecto, dando como plazo hasta el año 2025. La construcción de las instalaciones comenzó en enero de 2023 y a finales de abril de este año. La A.C. SeaHorse Sanctuary & Equine Therapy Center empezó a recibir varias personas de la localidad con capacidades diferentes siendo todo un éxito.
